Teknik Riders & Teams

We work closely with the teams and individuals we sponsor including Ballards Yamaha Offroad Team, The Academy of Offorad Riding, our own team Teknik Racing and world record holder Clint Debner who contested the supermotard series in 2006, giving us the best knowledge of how to tune a suspension. Our knowledge base is your guarantee that we can give you the best all round grip, feel, speed and comfort.

Ben Grabham : GHR Honda Off road team

Duration: 2005-2006

Disciplines: Pro Off road, MX, S.Moto, Finke desert race, Rally

Ben is one of the most talented riders in the country, he is also unique in that he is competitive at a national level in Off Road, Motocross, Super Motard, and Long track. That makes him a great suspension tester for Teknik.

Alison Parker : Ballards Yamaha

Duration: 2001-2006

Disciplines: Off Road, Womens MX

Alison is known as the fastest and most determined girl in Australian off road riding. She is also a dab hand at Womens MX, representing Australia at the 2005 Yamaha Oceania Motocross championship. Alison is a regular mid pack finisher against the guys in National Enduro events. In 2006 Alison will be the first Australian female to contest the International 6 Days Enduro in New Zealand.

Jason Cater : Team Ballards Yamaha

Duration: 1999-2006

Disciplines: Pro Off Road

We first met Jason at a pony-express event in 1992. He was walking around the pits trying to borrow some rear brake pads for his ex Craig Dack YZ250. Not much has changed, Jason is still consistant and competitive, with a great feel for suspension and engine changes. He still wrecks rear brake pads too.

Steve Crombie : Lost On Earth Adventuring

Duration: Who Knows?

Disciplines: Adventuring

Since Steve was a child, he has been addicted to National Geographic magazines and the Guiness Book of Records. Steve is a compulsive dreamer who's imagination and ideas runs riot. He believes that ideas rock the world and loves nothing better than turning them into reality. Once he decides to do something, there is no turning back. His perspective is that you should 'Live the life you love and love the life you live'. Steve spent the first few years of his free life pursuing adventures around the world, from coasting around Australia in a circus to cruising the Amazon in a home made canoe. Later returning to Sydney to finish his MBA (Masters of Business). He hopes that a few years travelling the globe by motorcycle will make up for the travelling he missed whilst studying. He works full time on the adventure in hope that if all goes well, Lost On Earth will be able to pursue these adventures for the rest of his god given life. That's what dreams are all about, yeah?

Stuart Morgan : Team Ballards Yamaha

Duration: 1999-2003

Disciplines: Pro Off Road

Multiple NSW and National champion dating back to 1992, also representing Australia in the ISDE numerous times. We did a lot of testing with Morgos from 1999-2003 on the Yamaha WR range, eventually winning the 450 class at the 2003 4-day. The suspension settings bank we keep was certainly richened by Morgos testing.

Ben Jones : Honda/Yamaha

Duration: 2000-2006

Disciplines: FMX

Ben would arguably be the most professional freestyle rider in the country. He has certainly been doing it for longer than most, and he knows the difference between a good FMX suspension that lets you get all messed up in the air, land on the flat, and still allowing you to walk away when lesser suspension would have put you in hospital. We have been supporting Ben since 2000, transferring what we learn working with him into every FMX suspension set-up we do.

Murray Clarke : Frasers Castrol Racing, Budget Aprillia

Duration: 2001-2004

Disciplines: A grade road race

Murray competed in Formula Xtreme as well as selected endurance races and the odd NZ event. Teknik chose to test suspension with Murray as he is an 'older' (sorry Muz!) rider with a wealth of experience and he is still well capable of turning fast laps with the younger guys. He won the BEARS championship in 2004 on an Aprillia RSVR factory.

Geoff Ballard : Team Ballards Yamaha

Duration: 1999-2006

Disciplines: Vet pro offroad and MX

GBs career began in 1977 when he began racing motocross on a German Maico machine. He's the most decorated Aussie at the ISDE with 12 gold and seven silver medals in the International Six Days Enduro. On the National front, Geoff has eight Australian championships and counting. GB continues to compete at the highest level, as well as running the successful enduro race team under the Ballards Yamaha umbrella.

Damien Smith : Team Ballards Yamaha

Duration: 2000-2006

Disciplines: Pro Off Road

Damien has been at the top of the Off Road world for many years. He has represented Australia at the ISDE on numerous occasions, and is a great asset for our Teknik research and development.

Jamie Cunningham : GHR Honda Off Road team

Duration: 1999-2006

Disciplines: Off Road, Desert, Rally

Another long time off Road campainer, Jamie has raced all over the world in the ISDE and for a year at the GNCC in the USA. Jamie is adept at any discipline of dirt bikes and is the reigning Australian Safari champion.

Paul Sinderbury : GHR Off Road team

Duration: 2001-2004

Disciplines: Rally Racing, Australian safari and Condo 750

Paul has been a long standing member of the GHR Honda team. Much of the suspension and engine development done on the Safari winning XR650R was with Pauls help. Paul has been a relentless Safari competitor and we wish him well in his retirement from national level racing.

Alex Tomasetti : Silkolene-Kawasaki Privateer

Duration: 2006

Disciplines: ARRC Super Sport

Alex is a regular Supersport rider, having won the 2004 B grade privateer cup and winning the Stars of Tomorrow in 2003, he has moved to A on the new ZX6RR. Success eluded him in 2005, and we have embarked on suspension tesing with the Ohlins equipped Kawasaki to get him back on top.
