If you carry different gear on your adventures, sometimes a pillion passenger, sometimes solo, you should be adjusting your spring preload to suit. It is far more comfortable and safer — see our Offroad Setup Guide or matching Road Setup Guide for instructions. EPA assemblies thread onto Tractive aftermarket shock bodies like a traditional castellated spring nut but let ESA brains expand or contract the spring seat. When the shock is wedged tight between the rear wheel and gearbox, EPAs remove the need to kneel with preload wrenches by the roadside.
