TECHNICA REDUCED VOLUME BLADDER CAP FOR 2019 YAMAHA YZF MODELS
The 2019 on model YAMAHA YZF 250 and 450 changed the rear suspension linkage/shock arrangement, with slightly different rising rate, but a shorter stroke shock absorber. The rear travel is the same amount so the component stroke must perform stronger. The standard spring rate is higher, the damping specification is stronger, but the gas bladder volume is substantially larger. The intended function of this change is to reduce the effects of pressure build up, but it tends to reduce the total progressive spring rate more. By reducing the volume of the gas chamber, the end force of the total spring character becomes stronger and matches the rear suspension action better. The design also replaces the needle type gas fill with a schrader valve.
