Motorbike front forks aren't just the two tubes you see on the outside - they often feature a separate internal cartridge that does the real work. The shaft that slides inside the middle of this cartridge, with the reb adjuster assembly connected to the bottom and damping piston parts attached to the top, is called the fork cartridge rod.
