Shock Main Piston Assembly

Your rear shock absorber contains a machined metal piston disc with passages that meter oil flow between compression and rebound; these assemblies rely on a rubber o-ring and a PTFE-coated bush or soft PTFE band to seal the outer diameter. OEM KYB & Showa main piston assemblies include fitted rubber o-rings and metal bushing rings or outer gapless bands, with valving shim stacks arranged for compression and rebound and secured by a locknut.
