Shock Shaft Dust Seals

Motorbike shocks use a damping shaft that slides inside the main shock absorber body. To keep oil and nitrogen pressure inside the casing there is a lower seal head assembly and an external dust wiper that protects the internal oil seals.

How dust seals protect shock shafts

• Hard outer dirt wipers scrape away grit and corrosive mud to prevent pitting of the chrome damping rod
• Protect softer inner oil seals from damage and eventual leaking
• Maintain internal oil and nitrogen pressure for consistent damping
• Available as individual mud scrapers or OEM components for KYB, Showa and WP Suspension

These separate servicing parts suit fine-tuning, and we also stock oil & dirt seal combos and complete shock overhaul kits. To service the coilover end case you will need to remove the shock spring, and it is an opportunity to pick the right spring rate.
