Motorcycle Shock Assembled Internals

Shock Internals and Shaft Assembly

Even if your rear shocks are rebuildable (not all of them are - see our FAQ on shock servicing), repairing a complete motorbike shock absorber can be a daunting task. A complete pre-built shaft and internals lets you bolt in a ready-made heart transplant, saving hours and avoiding complex tolerances, torque settings and nitrogen charging. We sell all the parts sub-assemblies separately; shock shaft with clevis/yoke & rebound adjuster, the damping piston with band, the complete oil seal case, the lower shock body end cap, the rubber bump stop and the spring seat cup. You will still need the valving shim stacks and the right suspension oil; watch our head tech Nick as he explains testing for dyno guidance.

When to fit a replacement shaft and internals

  • Bolt-in shaft assemblies save hours versus a full strip and rebuild
  • Replace worn damping pistons, seals or rebound adjusters without buying a new shock
  • Maintain OEM valving and shim stacks or fit matched valving pistons
  • Ideal for salvageable coilovers where nitrogen charging and correct oil grade are required

Recommended Pairings

Consider matching your repair with Suspension Tools for correct assembly and service.
