Shock Shaft Lock or Jam Nut

Right in the centre of your motorbike's coilover is the shock shaft. At the top end it holds the piston inside the shock absorber body while at the bottom end it screws onto the clevis or yoke — locked strongly onto the main rod using OEM KYB or Showa jamnuts. Exposed to mud and dynamic forces, locknuts should be cleaned and serviced as often as neighbouring linkage bearings & seals.
