The Lainer Suspension Showa free piston set suits Honda CRF250 models from 2013–2014. It is intended as a replacement for the stock plastic piston, which can fail internally under fork pressure. This component is aimed at restoring correct internal operation during servicing rather than changing external settings.

Inside the System

The free piston forms part of the internal hydraulic assembly and is used to support stable hydraulic pressure and cartridge function. Replacing a damaged or degraded piston can help return normal behaviour where the original part has cracked or broken.

Serviceability

Change the free piston when the original shows cracking, breakage, abnormal wear, or when faults are found during a strip-down. It may also be replaced when converting away from the stock plastic piston during a rebuild. If the existing piston is intact, operating correctly, and inspection shows no damage or wear, replacement is not mandatory.
