Lainer PDS-2 Progressive Damping System – KYB 48mm Forks

The Lainer PDS-2 Progressive Damping System adds an additional level of hydraulic control to selected KYB 48mm forks, helping increase support through the stroke without relying on an overly firm conventional damping setup.

Designed for KYB 48mm forks using a 24mm piston and 498mm fork springs, the system controls oil movement outside the cartridge. This gives the fork additional resistance as it moves deeper into the travel, helping reduce excessive dive and improve bottoming control under harder impacts.

More Support Where It Matters

Rather than simply increasing compression damping across the entire stroke, the PDS-2 provides a progressive effect. This allows the fork to retain compliance through general trail chatter and smaller impacts while building additional hydraulic support as load and fork travel increase.

The upper section incorporates four compression-flow settings, while the lower control ring provides five selectable positions for altering oil transfer through the fork. Spring preload adjustment is also integrated into the assembly.
