Motorcycle Shock Seal Case Parts

Motorbike shocks use a damping shaft that slides inside the main shock absorber body. To keep all the oil and nitrogen pressure inside that casing there is a lower seal head assembly between the two.

Rear dampers have multiple lines of defence in there - an oil seal deep inside, a dust wiper on the outside, a rod bushing to keep it all sliding concentrically, a rubber o-ring sealing around the outside and a rebound top out bumper facing inwards.
That bump stop can either be a rubber ring or a small steel coil spring, and it's job is to make sure no damage happens if the shock piston bumps into the bottom case (like when you jump the bike).

We sell complete assembled replacement seal cases for most suspensions - but we also sell bare heads, washers and individual components so you can mix and match to tune your coilover however you want - buying only what you need to service.

To get at the seal case you will need to remove the shock spring, so read our article on how to do it safely. It's a perfect opportunity to swap springs to the right spring rate for your weight too. And once everything is rebuilt, keep in mind our suspension fluids section to refill the oil, and our regassing tools to gas it up.

But if you're not confident you can manage it yourself, Teknik offer a 12 month warranty on shock oil seals we've installed.
