Motorcycle Mechanic Suspension Tools & Oils & Accessories
Tools / Fluids
Correct tools and suitable fluids make suspension work safer, faster and more repeatable. This category brings together the workshop equipment, consumables and lubricants used in the Teknik Motorsport workshop and by professional and DIY technicians.
Workshop tools and fluids for suspension service
- Protect fork tubes, shock bodies and internal components during removal and assembly
- Speed up disassembly, measurement and rebuild tasks with purpose-made tools
- Choose the right oils and lubricants to achieve consistent damping behaviour
- Support accurate diagnosis and adjustment with manufacturer-specific and electronic testing tools
Recommended Pairings

Frequently Asked Questions
A fork oil level tool allows the oil height or air gap inside a motorcycle fork to be set accurately and consistently. Front forks have 2 springs, the coil spring we all know and the air spring. We can change the air spring stiffness and ramping effect by altering oil height. A higher oil height creates a stiffer air spring, a lower height makes the air spring softer. Air springs are characterised by Boyle's Law.
Use the oil specification recommended for the fork or suspension setup rather than relying on the viscosity grade printed on the bottle alone. Suspension fluids from different manufacturers can vary even when labelled with the same nominal weight. Teknik provides a comparative suspension fluid weight table to help compare fluid viscosity between brands. See our Comparitive Suspension Fluid Oil Weight Table.
Yes. A nominal oil grade such as 5W does not guarantee identical viscosity between manufacturers. Different suspension fluids can therefore produce different damping behaviour even when the label appears to show the same weight. Comparing actual viscosity specifications is more reliable when substituting one suspension fluid for another.
