This service covers inspection, rebuild and durability upgrades for ZF Sachs Dynamic ESA front and rear dampers as fitted to BMW R1200 and R1250 GS and GSA LC models. It is intended for riders experiencing premature wear, internal faults or reduced performance from OEM Sachs units under mixed road and off-road use.

Service Overview

ZF Sachs Dynamic ESA dampers are known to suffer from several internal design limitations when subjected to repeated heavy loads, off-road impacts or long-distance use. This service addresses common failure points by rebuilding the damper with improved internal components and restoring correct oil, gas and sealing control.

What This Service Includes

  • Full disassembly and inspection of internal components
  • Cleaning and preparation of all reusable parts
  • Replacement of the seal head with an upgraded design including dust wiper where applicable
  • Installation of an improved oil and gas separation piston
  • Internal modifications to address known OEM retention and durability issues
  • Bleeding with correct suspension oil and nitrogen charging

Post-Service Quality Control

Every damper serviced by Teknik Motorsport is dyno tested before return to the customer. This is a quality control step on our own workmanship, allowing us to verify correct assembly, oil condition, gas pressure, seal integrity and adjuster operation before the unit leaves our workshop.

Dyno testing allows us to identify issues such as oil aeration, incorrect gas charge, abnormal seal drag, adjuster faults or early seal weeping that may not be apparent through hand cycling alone.

Dyno testing is performed as a verification of workmanship, not as a promise of specific ride characteristics, which remain dependent on setup, usage and operating conditions.

Warranty

Teknik Motorsport provides a 12-month workmanship warranty on shock services covering seals and service-related components. This warranty applies under normal operating conditions and correct installation, and does not cover damage caused by misuse, contamination, external impact or normal wear outside the serviced components.

Suitability & Limitations

This service restores correct internal function and durability of the damper at the time of service. Final ride feel and performance remain influenced by spring rates, electronic settings, load, terrain and rider setup.
