The Ohlins KA701 STX 36 Twin is a rear twin-shock unit developed for the Kawasaki ZRX 1100, aimed at improving chassis control and consistency. It uses a gas-pressurised damping design to help maintain stable damping behaviour as conditions change. The focus is predictable traction, support and feedback for road and fast-road use.

Ohlins street suspension is built around controlled damping and repeatable adjustment, with design knowledge drawn from competition use. The STX platform is intended to deliver clear feedback without making the bike harsh, helping you keep the tyre working through braking, turn-in and drive.

Shock design & features

This is a twin rear shock arrangement using a gas-pressurised damping system to reduce fade and keep damping response consistent over longer rides. The internal valving is aimed at maintaining traction and stability when load transfers quickly, such as hard braking and corner exit.

Tuning controls

The damping architecture includes independent compression and rebound circuits, allowing you to tune support and recovery separately. This helps you balance comfort and grip while maintaining stability when pushing the bike harder.

Base setup (factory preset)

The shocks are supplied with a factory baseline setting intended as a starting point for the ZRX 1100. From there, adjustment is typically done to match rider weight, tyre choice and intended pace, while keeping the overall balance between the front and rear of the bike.

Before you install

Confirm the mounting hardware and clearances for a twin-shock rear layout, and inspect the condition of linkage points and bushings so the shocks can move freely. After installation, re-check fasteners and set sag before making damping changes so each adjustment is meaningful.
