The Ohlins AP824 STX 46 Supersport rear shock is a dedicated replacement unit for the Aprilia RSV Mille R, built around consistent damping control and clear chassis feedback. It uses a separated oil and gas design to help maintain stable damping behaviour as conditions change. The architecture supports precise tuning without making the ride feel vague or over-damped.

Developed from Ohlins road racing suspension practice, this Supersport-spec rear unit is intended to deliver predictable support and grip for performance street and track use. The aim is stability under load changes while keeping compliance for traction.

Shock design & features

This is an STX 46 rear mono shock with separated oil and gas, rather than an emulsion layout. Separation helps reduce aeration of the oil during repeated suspension movement, supporting consistent damping response through a session. The unit is supplied with a fitted spring.

Tuning controls

Rebound damping adjustment is provided to control how quickly the rear returns after compression, influencing grip on corner exit and how quickly the bike settles after bumps. Compression damping adjustment is provided to manage support during acceleration, braking transitions and larger impacts, affecting chassis attitude and stability. Spring preload adjustment is provided to set sag and balance the chassis front-to-rear.

Base setup (factory preset)

Ohlins base settings are typically chosen to suit the target model with a broad tuning window around a performance-oriented starting point. Final settings will depend on rider mass, tyres, ride height targets and whether the bike is used mainly on the road or track.
