The Ohlins AP833 STX 46 Supersport rear shock is a rear mono shock absorber designed for Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory fitment. Shock design & features

Configured as a rear mono shock, the AP833 is built around the STX platform with separate oil and gas volumes. This architecture is aimed at reducing aeration so damping behaviour remains more consistent through longer rides and harder sessions.

Tuning controls

  • Rebound damping adjustment to control the shock’s return speed after bumps and load transfer, influencing stability and grip on corner exit.
  • Compression damping adjustment to manage support while the shock is compressing under braking, acceleration and bumps.
  • Length adjustment to fine-tune rear ride height and chassis attitude, affecting steering response and balance.

Base setup (factory preset)

The supplied baseline is intended as a practical starting point for the RSV 1000 R Factory’s rear linkage and weight distribution. Final results depend on correct sag and spring choice, plus a balanced approach between front and rear damping.

Before you install

Set sag first, then make changes one circuit at a time to confirm cause and effect. If you adjust ride height via length adjustment, re-check sag and handling balance before further damping changes.
