The Ohlins ARX0101 AR-X40 rear shock is a direct-fit replacement for the Yamaha Ténéré 700 and Ténéré 700 Rally Edition. It is designed to improve chassis control and rear-tyre connection across mixed road and adventure use. With adjustable damping, it lets you tune the rear of the bike to suit your load, pace, and typical terrain.

Shock design & features

The ARX0101 is a complete rear mono shock replacement designed for the Ténéré 700 platform. It uses an oil/gas separated layout to help maintain damping consistency when conditions get rough and temperatures rise.

Tuning controls

Compression damping adjustment: helps tune how the rear reacts to bumps and load inputs, influencing support under acceleration and braking.
Rebound damping adjustment: helps tune how quickly the shock returns after compression, influencing grip, stability, and control over repeated bumps.

Before you install

Set the bike up for your normal riding load first, then fine-tune damping to balance support versus comfort. Make one change at a time and re-test on the same section of road or trail so you can clearly feel the direction of change.

Serviceability/lifecycle

Periodic servicing helps maintain damping consistency and seal life over time. Service needs vary with dust, water exposure, heat, and load, so inspection as part of routine maintenance is recommended.
