The Ohlins YA1594 is a rear TTX 44 shock absorber for the Yamaha YZ 450F, built around Ohlins’ twin-tube damping architecture. It’s designed to deliver consistent damping control and clear chassis feedback across changing track conditions. Supplied without a spring, it’s intended to be matched with an appropriate spring from the recommended range.

Shock design & features

This unit uses Ohlins’ TTX twin-tube system with separated oil and gas, helping resist damping fade and maintain repeatable performance. The layout is aimed at improving wheel contact and stability through braking bumps and corner entry while keeping drive predictable on exit.

Tuning controls

External damping adjustments are provided for both compression and rebound, allowing you to tune support and recovery speed to suit track conditions and riding style. The damping circuits are designed to be adjusted independently for more precise setup changes.

Before you install

  • No spring is supplied; spring selection is required (see the recommended spring series noted for this model).
  • After installation, set sag and verify chassis balance front-to-rear before evaluating clicker changes.
  • Use the recommended Ohlins suspension oil family specified for the unit when servicing.

Serviceability/lifecycle

This shock is fully serviceable. Regular oil and seal service helps keep damping consistent and protects internal components, especially in high-dust or high-hour use.
