The Ohlins YA047 rear mono shock is built around Ohlins’ proven STX architecture for road use where stability, grip and damping consistency matter. It is designed to give you a wider, more controlled tuning window than a standard shock while maintaining predictable behaviour across changing road conditions. This unit is supplied with a fitted spring and is intended as a direct-fit rear upgrade for the Yamaha FZR 600.

Shock design & features

This is a gas-pressurised, oil/gas separated mono shock designed to maintain damping performance during sustained use. The internal layout supports consistent control under load changes such as corner entry, braking and acceleration.

Tuning controls

You can tune rebound damping, compression damping, and spring preload. These adjustments let you balance comfort versus support, manage chassis attitude, and tailor grip and response to rider weight, tyres and riding conditions.

Base setup (factory preset)

The shock is delivered with an Ohlins baseline setting intended to be a safe starting point for typical road use. Fine-tuning is best done one change at a time, prioritising correct ride height and sag before altering damping.

Before you install

Confirm the shock is matched to your exact model and linkage configuration, and set sag with the fitted spring once installed. After installation, check clearance through full suspension travel and re-check fasteners after the first rides.

Serviceability/lifecycle

This Ohlins unit is fully serviceable. Regular oil and seal service helps maintain damping consistency and component life, especially if the bike is used hard or stored for long periods between rides.
