The Tractive eX-CITE Shock for the BMW R 1250 GS is a closed, pressurised rear shock absorber built around a sealed cartridge design to keep damping consistent over a wide range of riding conditions. Its construction separates oil and gas to reduce foaming and maintain control on long, rough or fully loaded rides. This model uses a remote reservoir layout, giving additional oil volume and thermal stability compared with a non-reservoir design.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised damping system with oil/gas separation to help maintain consistent damping.
  • Sealed cartridge architecture for stable performance and controlled fluid flow.
  • Remote reservoir configuration to support heat management on sustained use.

Tuning Controls

  • Compression damping adjustment.
  • Rebound damping adjustment.

Base Setup (factory preset)

This shock is supplied with a baseline damping setup intended to suit general road and mixed-surface riding. Fine-tuning compression and rebound lets you match the feel to load, tyres and pace without changing internal components.

Who is this for?

  • Riders who want more control and consistency from the rear end on touring, commuting, and gravel-road use.
  • Owners who regularly vary load (luggage and passenger) and want adjustability to suit.
  • Anyone prioritising damping stability during long rides where heat build-up can affect feel.

Before You Install

  • Confirm fitment for your exact BMW R 1250 GS variant and model year before installation.
  • Set sag and damping after installation to match your weight and typical load.
  • If your bike uses model-specific hardware or mounting components, ensure they are transferred or supplied as required.

Serviceability/Lifecycle

As a pressurised, oil/gas-separated shock with a remote reservoir, periodic servicing helps preserve damping consistency and component life. Service intervals depend on usage conditions, especially if the bike is used in dust, water crossings, or sustained corrugations.
