The Tractive X-TREME rear shock for the KTM 890 ADVENTURE (S) uses a closed, pressurised design with oil and gas kept separate for consistent damping and reduced fade. This model is supplied in a raised configuration, increasing ride height by +15 mm. It is built around a 46 mm shock architecture intended for stable performance across changing loads and conditions.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock design with oil/gas separation for consistent damping control
  • External reservoir configuration (fixed reservoir)
  • Supplied in a raised ride-height configuration (+15 mm)

Tuning Controls

  • Triple adjustment: rebound damping, compression damping, and a separate high-speed compression circuit
  • Hydraulic preload adjuster (fixed/remote-style adjuster for tool-free preload changes)

Base Setup (factory preset)

The shock is delivered with a baseline setting intended to provide a workable starting point. Fine-tuning should be done methodically, changing one adjuster at a time to suit load, tyres, and intended use.

Before You Install

  • Confirm fitment for KTM 890 ADVENTURE (S) and account for the +15 mm ride height change (side stand/centre stand and geometry may be affected)
  • Set sag and preload for your typical riding load before making damping changes

Serviceability/Lifecycle

As a pressurised shock with separated oil and gas, this unit is designed to be serviced to maintain performance over time. Regular inspection and periodic servicing will help keep damping consistent, especially with frequent off-road use.
