The Ohlins BM460 STX 46 Street rear shock is built for the BMW R nineT and R nineT Pure, focusing on controlled damping and consistent feel on real roads. Ohlins STX Street shocks are developed from the same engineering approach used across the brand’s performance programs, with an emphasis on predictable chassis behaviour and repeatable tuning. For the R nineT platform, the aim is improved control through the stroke without compromising day-to-day ride quality.

Shock design & features

This is a pressurised rear mono shock that uses separated oil and gas to support consistent damping performance. The STX architecture is intended to deliver stable damping characteristics and clear feedback as the suspension works through bumps, braking loads and cornering forces.

Tuning controls

The BM460 provides external adjustments for compression damping and rebound damping, allowing you to balance support and comfort for your tyres, surfaces and riding style. Spring preload adjustment is also provided to set ride height and sag correctly for rider weight and any regular luggage or passenger use.

Base setup (factory preset)

The shock is supplied with an Ohlins baseline setting as a starting point. From there, fine-tuning is typically done by first setting sag with preload, then refining rebound for control after bumps, and compression for support under braking and corner entry.

Before you install

• Confirm fitment for your exact BMW R nineT / R nineT Pure variant and model year before installation.
• Inspect linkage bearings and mounting hardware condition during fitment, as worn components can mask the benefit of a new shock.
• After installation, re-check fastener torque and sag once the bike has settled.
