The Ohlins STX 46 Street rear shock is built for Kawasaki Z900 and Z900RS riders who want more control and clearer feedback from the rear end. Based on Ohlins street-focused monotube architecture, it targets improved stability through corners and under braking. This unit uses a gas-pressurised design to keep damping consistent as conditions and load change.

Ohlins street shocks draw on proven race development, then are tuned for real-world road use. The STX 46 platform focuses on predictable damping behaviour and repeatable adjustment, with a build standard aimed at long-term service life.

Shock design & features

This is a rear mono shock with a gas-pressurised, oil/gas separated damping system rather than an emulsion layout. The monotube design is intended to maintain damping control and reduce fade during sustained spirited riding.

Tuning controls

This shock provides rebound damping adjustment and compression damping adjustment, allowing you to balance support, traction and chassis attitude. It also includes spring preload adjustment to set ride height and sag for rider weight and typical load.

Base setup (factory preset)

Ohlins supplies the unit with a baseline setting intended to suit the target model range as a starting point. From there, small changes to preload and damping can be used to fine-tune comfort, grip and stability to your tyres, roads and riding style.

Before you install

Confirm fitment against your exact model and variant listed, and check clearance around linkage and any accessories. Set rider sag after installation and then adjust damping in a structured way so changes are easy to feel and repeat.

Serviceability/lifecycle

As an Ohlins rebuildable shock, it can be serviced to restore oil condition and sealing performance over time. Periodic servicing helps maintain consistent damping and extends the working life of the unit.
