The Ohlins YA828 STX 46 Street rear shock is built to improve chassis control and damping consistency for the Yamaha FZR 1000 in real-world road riding. Based on Ohlins race-derived damping architecture, it is designed to deliver stable behaviour under braking and better grip management when driving out of corners. The damping system is gas-pressurised to help maintain consistent performance as conditions and temperatures change.

Shock design & features

This is a gas-pressurised mono rear shock with oil and gas separated for damping consistency and reduced fade. The STX 46 architecture is aimed at maintaining traction and chassis composure when the pace increases.

Tuning controls

Adjustability is provided for rebound damping and compression damping, allowing you to balance comfort, support and grip to match your tyres, road conditions and preferred feel.

Set sag and confirm the spring preload is appropriate for rider weight and typical load
After installation, re-check fasteners and clearances through full suspension travel
Make one change at a time when tuning rebound and compression so you can track results

Serviceability/lifecycle

Like all performance shocks, regular servicing helps keep damping behaviour consistent over time. Periodic oil and seal maintenance is recommended, particularly if the bike is used hard or in wet/dirty conditions.
