The TracTive X-TREME + EPA rear shock for the BMW R1250GS Adventure (2018–2024) is a closed, pressurised 46 mm shock designed to provide consistent damping control over long, demanding rides. It uses a sealed internal architecture with oil and gas separated by a piston, helping stabilise damping behaviour when conditions and temperatures change. This version includes external tuning adjusters, including an electronic preload adjuster (EPA) for convenient ride-height and sag changes.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock design for consistent damping performance.
  • Oil/gas separation via an internal separation piston (not an emulsion layout).
  • Built as a rear shock application for BMW R1250GS Adventure model years 2018 to 2024.

Tuning Controls

  • Compression damping adjustment.
  • Rebound damping adjustment.
  • Electronic preload adjustment (EPA).

Base Setup (factory preset)

This shock is supplied with a baseline setup intended as a starting point. Fine-tuning is typically done by adjusting preload for sag and then balancing compression and rebound to suit load, riding conditions, and preferred feel.

Who is this for?

  • Riders who regularly change load (luggage/passenger) and want the convenience of electronic preload adjustment.
  • Owners looking for a pressurised, piston-separated shock architecture aimed at consistent damping across mixed conditions.
  • Those who want the ability to tune both compression and rebound damping rather than relying on a fixed setting.

Before You Install

  • Confirm model fitment: BMW R1250GS Adventure, 2018–2024.
  • Plan to set preload after installation to achieve correct sag for your typical riding load.
  • After initial setup, re-check settings after a short bedding-in period and adjust to suit handling and comfort.

Serviceability/Lifecycle

As a pressurised shock with separated oil and gas, servicing helps maintain damping consistency over time. Routine inspection for leaks, wear, and mounting hardware condition is recommended as part of regular maintenance.
