The TracTive X-TREME + HPA rear shock for the KTM 790 ADVENTURE R (2019–2021) is a closed, pressurised design that keeps the damping oil and gas separated for consistent control across varying conditions. It uses a sealed, cartridge-style internal architecture to maintain stable damping behaviour and reduce aeration. This model is configured with external adjusters and a hydraulic preload adjuster (HPA) for quick setup changes without tools.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock construction with oil/gas separation to help maintain consistent damping.
  • Sealed cartridge-style internal layout for controlled damping performance and reduced oil aeration.
  • Built as a dedicated rear shock application for the KTM 790 ADVENTURE R (2019–2021).

Tuning Controls

  • Triple adjustment: rebound damping, compression damping, and high-speed compression damping.
  • Hydraulic preload adjuster (HPA) to change spring preload quickly for load and terrain changes.

Base Setup (factory preset)

This shock is supplied with a manufacturer baseline setting intended as a starting point. Fine-tuning should be completed to suit rider weight, luggage/passenger load, and intended terrain.

Serviceability/Lifecycle

As a pressurised shock, performance depends on oil condition and correct gas pressure over time. Routine servicing helps maintain damping consistency and seal life, particularly for frequent off-road or high-load use.

Before You Install

  • Confirm fitment for KTM 790 ADVENTURE R model years 2019–2021.
  • Plan access for the preload hydraulic adjuster so it can be reached for on-bike changes.
  • After installation, set preload for your typical load, then dial rebound and compression to match terrain and riding pace.

Is It Right For You?

This configuration suits riders who want broad, independent damping control plus fast preload changes for touring loads and mixed-surface riding. If you prefer minimal adjusters and a set-and-forget approach, a simpler configuration may be more appropriate.
