The Tractive X-PERIENCE shock for the Triumph 1200 Explorer is a closed, pressurised 46 mm rear shock designed around a separated oil and gas layout for consistent damping over long rides. It uses an external reservoir for increased oil volume and better heat management. This model includes a remote hydraulic preload adjuster to simplify load changes for luggage or a passenger.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock construction for stable, fade-resistant damping behaviour
  • Oil/gas separation via an internal separation piston
  • External reservoir (fixed) to help maintain damping consistency as temperatures change
  • Supplied as a complete shock unit with spring

Tuning Controls

  • Triple-adjustable damping: rebound plus both low-speed and high-speed compression adjustment
  • Remote hydraulic preload adjuster for quicker preload changes without tools at the shock body

Base Setup (factory preset)

The shock is delivered with a baseline setting intended to provide a balanced starting point. From there, you can fine-tune preload for load and ride height balance, then adjust rebound and compression to match your road conditions and riding style.

Who is this for?

  • Triumph 1200 Explorer riders who tour with varying loads and want easy preload changes
  • Owners wanting broad damping control for mixed road conditions
  • Riders prioritising consistent damping feel from a pressurised, separated oil/gas shock design

Before You Install

  • Confirm the shock matches your exact Triumph 1200 Explorer application before fitting
  • Plan cable/hose routing and mounting for the remote hydraulic preload adjuster and reservoir
  • After installation, set preload first, then adjust damping in small steps and test ride between changes

Serviceability/Lifecycle

This is a rebuildable, serviceable shock design. Periodic servicing helps maintain damping performance and seal life, particularly for high-mileage touring or harsh conditions.
