Developed from Ohlins racing and endurance experience, the STX Adventure range focuses on predictable chassis behaviour and control in real-world adventure use. The BM417 is intended to suit the standard rear shock position on compatible BMW models.

Shock design & features

This unit uses a 46-series monotube architecture with separated oil and gas, helping reduce fade and maintain damping consistency on corrugations and repeated hits. The construction is aimed at durability for adventure touring loads and rough-surface use.

Tuning controls

External adjusters allow you to tailor the shock to conditions and load. This model provides rebound damping adjustment and spring preload adjustment, making it easier to set the bike up for solo riding, luggage, or a pillion.

Base setup (factory preset)

The shock is supplied with an Ohlins baseline setting as a starting point. Fine-tuning is typically done by setting sag via preload first, then adjusting rebound to control how quickly the rear returns after bumps and under acceleration.
