The Ohlins BM540 STX 36 Supersport rear shock is built to deliver controlled, repeatable damping for the BMW K 1200 LT. Developed from Ohlins racing experience, it focuses on traction, stability and clear feedback through the chassis. The gas-pressurised design is intended to maintain consistent performance as conditions change.

Tuning controls

Base setup (factory preset)

Supplied with an Ohlins-fitted spring and a baseline setting intended to suit the standard application. From there, adjustments can be used to refine comfort versus control depending on riding style and typical payload.

Before you install

  • Confirm model fitment and correct rear mounting orientation before installation
  • Check sag and overall ride height after fitting, especially if carrying regular passenger or luggage loads
  • Inspect linkage/bushings and hardware condition during installation

Serviceability/lifecycle

Like all performance dampers, periodic servicing helps maintain damping consistency and seal life. Regular inspection for leaks or changes in damping feel is recommended, particularly if the bike is used frequently or heavily loaded.
