The Ohlins BM677 TTX 36/TTX 39 Adventure front shock is built for the BMW R 1200 GS where control and consistency matter across mixed surfaces. Designed around Ohlins’ TTX architecture, it focuses on predictable damping and stable chassis behaviour under changing loads. It is supplied as a front mono shock for adventure and touring use.

Ohlins | Made to race, perfected to ride

Ohlins suspension is developed with a strong engineering focus on damping control, heat management and repeatable adjustment. The TTX 36/TTX 39 Adventure family is aimed at riders who want confidence and composure when conditions vary from smooth bitumen to rough tracks.

Who this shock is for

  • BMW R 1200 GS riders wanting improved front-end control for adventure and touring.
  • Riders who regularly deal with uneven surfaces and want a more settled feel through the bars.
  • Anyone looking for a serviceable, tuneable front mono shock rather than a sealed replacement.

Shock design & features

This is a TTX-series unit with oil and gas separated for consistent damping performance. The twin-tube layout helps maintain control over long rides by supporting stable oil flow and damping response. It is configured as a dedicated front shock for the application noted.

Tuning controls

The BM677 is fitted with external damping adjusters for quick set-up changes. It provides adjustment for rebound damping and compression damping, allowing you to balance comfort, support and control to suit terrain, tyres and load.

Before you install

Confirm the fitment notes and mounting position (front mono) match your BMW R 1200 GS configuration before installation. If you’re changing load or ride style from standard, spring choice and baseline settings should be checked during install to ensure the front geometry and feel remain balanced.

Serviceability & lifecycle

As an Ohlins unit, the BM677 is designed to be maintained with regular servicing to keep performance consistent. Use the recommended Ohlins oil specified for the product when servicing, and refresh seals and fluid as part of normal suspension upkeep.

Öhlins Motorcycle Suspension Warranty

New Öhlins motorcycle shock absorbers, front forks and cartridge kits supplied by Teknik Motorsport are covered by the applicable Öhlins manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Teknik Motorsport is an authorised Öhlins Service Centre and administers warranty claims in accordance with the Öhlins warranty conditions. The service intervals below form part of the maintenance requirements for Öhlins products supplied and supported by Teknik Motorsport.

This warranty is in addition to the consumer guarantees that apply under the Australian Consumer Law.

  • Registered motorcycles — non-competition road use Five years, subject to correct application, installation, setup and servicing every: 20,000 km or two years, whichever occurs first.
  • Registered motorcycles — adventure and light off-road use Five years, subject to correct application, spring rate, setup and servicing every: 10,000 km or annually, whichever occurs first.
  • Unregistered or competition motorcycles Two years for eligible Öhlins MX and Enduro products, subject to inspection every ten hours and servicing every: 30 operating hours or annually, whichever occurs first.

Compliance with the applicable service interval is a condition of the Öhlins manufacturer’s warranty. Evidence of servicing may be required when a warranty claim is assessed.

A seal leak, loss of damping performance or internal wear arising after the prescribed service interval has been exceeded will be treated as a service or maintenance issue rather than a manufacturing defect.

Warranty repairs

Öhlins suspension products are designed to be serviced and repaired. Where a warranty claim is approved, the normal remedy is repair of the customer’s original suspension unit using genuine Öhlins replacement parts.

Replacement of a complete shock absorber, fork or cartridge kit is not automatic and would normally occur only where the product has suffered a manufacturing failure that cannot reasonably be repaired. This is at Ohlins discretion.

Öhlins spare parts and service kits

Öhlins spare parts, seals, bushes, service kits, springs, fluids and individual components are covered only against defects present when supplied.

No fixed age-based warranty applies to wear items, service parts or consumable components. Wear, deterioration, contamination, incorrect installation and damage caused by another component are not manufacturing defects.

Öhlins gives the customer a meaningful five-year warranty on products (Units), provided the suspension is maintained as suspension should be maintained. Teknik supports that warranty locally, can inspect the product properly, and can repair it with genuine parts rather than discarding it.
