Shock design & features

This is a monotube shock with a separated oil/gas layout, aimed at maintaining damping consistency when conditions get rough. The STX 46 Adventure family is intended for reliable performance across corrugations, rocky climbs and long-distance use, including when carrying luggage and a pillion.

Tuning controls

The BM942 provides rebound damping adjustment and compression damping adjustment for tailoring control and comfort. It also includes hydraulic spring preload adjustment to help you compensate for load changes without disassembly.

Base setup (factory preset)

Supplied with an Ohlins baseline setting intended to suit the standard application. Fine-tuning is typically done by balancing preload for ride height and feel, then adjusting damping to manage support and compliance for your terrain and load.

Before you install

  • Confirm fitment for BMW R 1150 GS and your specific model year/variant before installation.
  • Set sag and preload for your typical load (solo, luggage, pillion) prior to making damping changes.
