The Ohlins STX 46 Street rear shock is built for riders who want more control and clearer feedback from the rear of their Honda CBR500R. It uses a monotube design with separated gas and oil to help maintain consistent damping during varied road conditions. Adjustment is provided for rebound and compression damping to suit your riding style and load.

Developed from Ohlins racing experience, the STX range focuses on predictable damping behaviour and stability. The aim is improved feel at the tyre contact patch without making the bike harsh for real-world use.

Shock design & features

This unit is a rear mono shock using an STX monotube layout. The gas and oil are separated to reduce cavitation and help the shock hold its character over longer rides. The assembly is supplied with a fitted spring.

These adjustments let you refine how the bike settles on corner entry and how it drives out, as well as how it responds over bumps.

Is it right for you?

Suited to CBR500R riders who want a more controlled rear end than a basic road shock can offer, with the ability to tune for solo riding, commuting, or more spirited pace. If you prefer a fit-and-forget setup with no external adjusters, this may be more adjustability than you need.

Before you install

Check that your linkage, bearings, and swingarm pivot are in good condition so the shock can move freely. After installation, set sag and then fine-tune rebound and compression in small steps to match your tyres, road surface, and riding load.
