Developed from Ohlins racing experience, the STX platform is engineered for controlled movement and tyre contact over varying surfaces. On the CB500X, it is intended to improve composure through corners and reduce unwanted chassis movement under braking and acceleration.

Shock design & features

This is an STX 46 mono rear shock with a separated oil/gas arrangement for more consistent damping. The internal layout is aimed at smooth response across everyday road inputs while still offering support when the pace increases.

Tuning controls

Adjustment is provided for rebound damping, allowing you to fine-tune how quickly the shock extends after compression. Spring preload adjustment is also included to help set ride height and balance for rider load and luggage.

Base setup (factory preset)

The shock is supplied with an Ohlins base calibration intended as a starting point for the Honda CB500X. From there, rebound and preload can be set to suit your weight, tyre choice, and typical riding conditions.

  • Check surrounding clearance and hose/cable routing around the shock area.
