The Ohlins YA243 STX 46 Supersport rear shock is designed to give the Yamaha YZF 750 SP a controlled, predictable rear end under hard use. Built around Ohlins race-derived damping architecture, it focuses on consistent behaviour through braking, turn-in and corner exit. It is a dedicated rear mono shock unit intended for riders who want tunability and clear feedback from the chassis.

STX 46 Supersport units are engineered for track-focused handling while remaining suitable for performance road riding. The damping system is designed to maintain stability and traction when loads change quickly, helping the bike stay composed as conditions and pace vary.

Shock design & features

This is an oil/gas separated shock design to support consistent damping during repeated high-load cycles. The STX architecture separates functions within the damper to deliver a more controlled response through the stroke and improve feel at the tyre contact patch.

Tuning controls

The YA243 provides external rebound damping adjustment and external compression damping adjustment to fine-tune balance and grip. It also includes length adjustment to help set ride height and chassis attitude without relying solely on spring preload changes.

Before you install

Confirm clearance and hose/reservoir routing (where applicable) and ensure the adjusters remain accessible once fitted.
Set sag and baseline damping after installation, then change one parameter at a time during testing.
Use the recommended Ohlins oil for servicing to maintain intended damping performance.

Serviceability/lifecycle
