The Ohlins STX 36 Blackline rear shock pair is built for Yamaha XJR 1200 and XJR 1300 models, combining proven damping architecture with a classic finish. Designed as a matched twin-shock set, it targets improved control and consistency through adjustable damping and preload. Setup changes can be made to suit different loads and riding conditions while keeping the bike’s character intact.

STX 36 Blackline units are engineered as street-focused performance shocks, with quality materials and damping control intended for real-world road use. The Blackline finish is chosen to suit vintage and custom aesthetics without compromising function.

Shock design & features

This is a twin rear shock configuration for the XJR platform, supplied as a pair. The design uses oil and gas separation for stable damping performance, helping the shocks maintain consistent behaviour as conditions change.

Tuning controls

Rebound damping adjustment to control how quickly the shock extends after compression
Compression damping adjustment to manage firmness and support over bumps and load transfers
Spring preload adjustment to set ride height and support for rider, passenger, or luggage

Base setup (factory preset)

These shocks are delivered with an Ohlins factory baseline intended as a safe starting point for typical street riding. Fine-tuning rebound, compression, and preload can then be used to suit road surface, tyres, and load.

Confirm your exact model and year fitment for Yamaha XJR 1200 / XJR 1300 and inspect linkage and mounting hardware condition before installation. After fitting, re-check fasteners, set sag via preload, and make damping changes one step at a time to isolate their effects.
