The Ohlins STX 46 Street rear shock for Yamaha FZ6 is built to improve chassis control and consistency for everyday road riding. It uses a monotube design with a separated oil/gas layout to maintain damping stability as conditions change. With external adjusters, it allows practical tuning without adding complexity.

Shock design & features

This is an STX 46 Street monotube rear shock with a separated oil/gas arrangement for consistent damping behaviour. The architecture is intended to reduce fade and keep response stable during longer rides or repeated hard use.

Tuning controls

Adjustment is provided for rebound damping and compression damping, allowing you to balance grip, support, and ride comfort. Spring preload adjustment is also provided so sag can be set correctly for rider weight and typical load.

Before you install

Set rider sag and check static sag after fitting to ensure the spring preload is in the right range
Record the original adjuster positions before making changes so you can return to a known baseline
Inspect linkage bearings and mounting hardware condition during installation

Serviceability/lifecycle

Like other Ohlins units, the shock is designed to be serviced to keep performance consistent over time. Periodic oil and seal maintenance helps preserve damping control and ride quality.
