The Ohlins STX 46 Street rear shock for Yamaha FZ 1 is built to provide controlled damping, consistent chassis support and clear feedback on the road. It uses a monotube layout with a separated gas/oil arrangement to help maintain damping stability as temperatures and loads change. The result is a more settled rear end under braking, turn-in and drive.

Tuning controls

This rear shock includes external adjustments for rebound damping and compression damping, along with spring preload adjustment to set ride height and sag correctly for rider load.

Base setup (factory preset)

Supplied with an Ohlins baseline setting intended to be a sensible starting point for street riding. From there, small changes to preload and damping can be used to tailor comfort, support and grip to your tyres, roads and typical load.

Before you install

Confirm linkage and mounting condition, and set sag and preload after fitting to suit rider weight and intended use. If you adjust compression and rebound, change one parameter at a time and test on familiar roads so you can feel the effect clearly.

Serviceability/lifecycle

As with all performance shocks, periodic servicing helps maintain oil condition, seal integrity and damping consistency. A routine inspection schedule is recommended, especially if the bike sees high mileage or aggressive use.
