The TracTive eX-PERIENCE + EPA rear shock for the BMW R1250GS (2018–2024) is a closed, pressurised monotube design that keeps the damping oil and gas separated for consistent control. This model is supplied in a lowered configuration, reducing ride height by 15 mm. Built around a sealed cartridge-style internal architecture, it is intended to deliver stable damping performance over a wide range of conditions.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock design with oil/gas separation to help maintain damping consistency.
  • Sealed cartridge-style internal layout for controlled oil flow and reduced aeration risk.
  • Lowered configuration (15 mm reduction) to suit riders wanting less seat height and an easier reach to the ground.

Tuning Controls

  • Rebound damping adjustment.
  • Compression damping adjustment.
  • Preload adjustment via EPA (electronically adjusted preload).

Who is this for?

  • R1250GS riders who want a rear shock with electronic preload adjustment and manual damping control.
  • Riders seeking a 15 mm lowered setup for improved confidence at stops and low-speed manoeuvres.
  • Touring and mixed-surface riders looking for the consistency benefits of a pressurised, oil/gas-separated design.

Before You Install

  • Confirm model fitment for BMW R1250GS (2018–2024) and that the 15 mm lowering suits your intended use and chassis balance.
  • Plan for any required setup changes after the height reduction (for example, verifying overall stance and clearances).
  • Have installation performed by a qualified technician if you are not experienced with suspension work.

Serviceability/Lifecycle

  • Designed as a serviceable shock; periodic servicing helps maintain consistent damping and long-term performance.
  • The pressurised, separated design supports stable operation by reducing foaming under sustained use.

Is It Right For You?

  • Choose this option if you want electronic preload adjustment (EPA) plus compression and rebound adjustability in a lowered rear shock.
  • If you do not want a height change, consider a standard-height alternative instead of the 15 mm low version.
