The TracTive X-TREME + EPA rear shock for the BMW R1250GS (2018–2024) is a closed, pressurised shock built around a sealed cartridge design to keep damping consistent across a wide range of conditions. It uses oil and gas separation via an external reservoir, helping maintain stable performance when the shock is working hard. This model includes an electronic preload system (EPA) to make ride-height and load changes easier to manage.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock with a sealed cartridge architecture.
  • External reservoir with oil/gas separation (separation piston) to reduce aeration and support consistent damping feel.
  • Electronic preload adjustment (EPA) for convenient spring preload changes.

Tuning Controls

  • Triple damping adjustment (rebound plus two compression circuits).
  • Electronic preload adjustment (EPA).

Who is this for?

  • R1250GS riders who regularly vary load (solo, luggage, passenger) and want electronic preload convenience.
  • Owners looking for broad damping tuneability via independent rebound and compression adjustments.

Before You Install

  • Confirm fitment for BMW R1250GS model year 2018–2024.
  • Plan for routing and mounting space for the external reservoir.
  • Ensure the motorcycle and any existing electronics/preload controls are in good condition before installation.

Serviceability/Lifecycle

  • Sealed, pressurised construction with separated oil/gas is designed for consistent damping over time.
  • As with any high-end shock, periodic servicing is recommended based on use conditions and hours/kilometres ridden.
