The Tractive X-PERIENCE rear shock for the BMW R nineT Urban G/S 40 Years GS uses a closed, pressurised architecture with separated oil and gas to keep damping consistent over varying conditions. The design is built around a piston-separated system rather than an emulsion layout, helping maintain control during longer rides. This unit includes external damping adjustment for both compression and rebound, along with a spring preload adjuster.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock design with oil/gas separation via an internal piston
  • Aimed at consistent damping feel through sustained use
  • Coil spring with an integrated hydraulic preload adjuster

Tuning Controls

  • Compression damping adjustment
  • Rebound damping adjustment
  • Hydraulic spring preload adjustment

Base Setup (factory preset)

This shock is supplied with a baseline factory tune intended as a starting point. Use the external adjusters to refine feel based on load, road surface, and riding priorities.

Who is this for?

  • Riders who want wider tuning range with both compression and rebound adjustment
  • Owners who regularly change load (solo, luggage) and want convenient hydraulic preload changes
  • BMW R nineT Urban G/S 40 Years GS riders seeking consistent damping on longer rides

Before You Install

  • Confirm model fitment for BMW R nineT Urban G/S 40 Years GS
  • Set sag and preload for your typical riding load before fine-tuning damping
  • If you frequently swap between solo and loaded riding, note your preferred preload and damping positions for repeatability
