The TracTive X-TREME shock for the Yamaha Tenere 700 Rally is a closed, pressurised rear shock built around a sealed internal architecture for consistent damping over long rides. It uses separated oil and gas rather than an emulsion layout, helping maintain stable feel as conditions change. This model is a standard-height fitment.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock design with a sealed internal damping layout
  • Oil/gas separation via an internal separation piston (not an emulsion shock)
  • Remote reservoir connected by hose
  • Supplied with spring
  • Hydraulic preload adjuster (hose-mounted) for tool-free preload changes

Tuning Controls

  • Triple external damping adjustment (rebound plus two compression circuits)
  • Hydraulic preload adjustment via remote adjuster

Base Setup (factory preset)

The shock is supplied with TracTive’s baseline valving and adjuster positions intended as a practical starting point. Fine-tuning is done by adjusting preload for ride height/sag balance, then using rebound and compression controls to suit load, tyres and terrain.

Who is this for?

  • Tenere 700 Rally riders who want broad adjustment range for mixed road and off-road use
  • Riders who regularly change luggage or passenger load and want quick preload changes
  • Owners prioritising consistent damping feel from a closed, pressurised shock design on longer rides

Before You Install

  • Confirm compatibility with your exact Yamaha Tenere 700 Rally variant and model year before fitting
  • Plan to set sag and preload after installation, then dial in damping adjustments from the factory baseline
  • Ensure reservoir hose routing and clearance are checked during installation

Is It Right For You?

If you want a standard-height rear shock with a wide tuning envelope, a hose remote reservoir, and easy load compensation via a hydraulic preload adjuster, this X-TREME configuration is a strong match. If you prefer a simpler set-and-forget approach, consider whether you’ll make use of the full triple-adjuster capability.
