The TracTive X-CITE shock for the Yamaha TDM 850 is a closed, pressurised monotube design that keeps the damping oil and gas separated for more consistent performance over long rides. It uses a sealed internal cartridge architecture to control oil flow under load, helping maintain stable damping as conditions change. This model is a spring-equipped rear shock with external adjustment for rebound.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised monotube shock with oil/gas separation
  • Sealed cartridge-based damping assembly
  • Spring-equipped configuration

Tuning Controls

  • Rebound damping adjustment

Base Setup (factory preset)

The shock is supplied with a baseline internal valving setup intended as a general starting point. Fine-tuning is completed using the external rebound adjuster to suit load, tyres, and riding conditions.

Before You Install

  • Confirm fitment for your exact Yamaha TDM 850 variant and year before installation
  • Check clearance around the shock body and any existing hardware during installation
  • After installation, re-check fasteners and suspension operation through full travel

Serviceability/Lifecycle

As a pressurised unit, correct servicing requires appropriate tools and procedures for handling gas pressure and maintaining internal separation. Periodic servicing helps keep damping performance consistent over time.

Is It Right For You?

This shock suits riders who want a serviceable, pressurised rear shock with rebound adjustment for tailoring feel and control. If you need additional adjustments beyond rebound, you may prefer a different configuration.
