The YSS BMWF800GS / GSA MX456W Hi/Low mono shock is a fully adjustable rear shock designed to provide controlled damping and setup flexibility for its intended motorcycle application. It allows riders to tailor suspension behavior for changing loads, riding conditions and terrain, where consistent control and stability are required.

Adjustment and Control

The MX456W features separate high-speed and low-speed compression adjustment, allowing the shock to be tuned for different types of suspension movement.

  • High-speed compression adjustment to manage sharp impacts, bumps and sudden load changes
  • Low-speed compression adjustment to control chassis stability, cornering behaviour and weight transfer
  • Rebound adjustment to control how quickly the shock returns after compression
  • Spring preload adjustment to set correct sag for rider weight or luggage

Design & Construction

This shock uses a gas-charged monotube design with a separate reservoir to improve oil control and reduce heat-related damping variation during extended or aggressive use.

  • Remote or piggyback gas reservoir, depending on model
  • CNC-machined and anodised components for corrosion resistance

Use & Setup Notes

The range of adjustment makes the MX456W suitable for road, track or off-road use where suspension setup needs to be adapted to conditions or rider preference. Correct setup of sag, compression and rebound is essential to achieving the intended performance and stability.

Serviceability & Support

YSS shocks are fully serviceable, allowing regular maintenance and internal refresh as part of long-term ownership. All YSS shock absorbers are supplied with a two-year manufacturer warranty.
