Shock design & features

This is a mono rear shock from the STX 46 Street family, using a gas-pressurised, oil/gas separated internal layout. That architecture is intended to keep damping more consistent during repeated suspension movement and temperature change. The unit is supplied with an Ohlins spring fitted.

Tuning controls

Adjustment is provided for rebound damping and compression damping, allowing you to balance chassis stability with bump compliance. Spring preload adjustment is also included to help set ride height and sag to suit rider load and use.

Before you install

Confirm the motorcycle model and year compatibility for your CBR500R before fitting. After installation, set sag and then fine-tune rebound and compression in small steps so changes are easy to evaluate. If your linkage bearings or swingarm bushes are worn, address those first to get the best result from the new shock.
