The Ohlins STX 46 Supersport rear shock for the Kawasaki ZX-9R is built around a proven mono-shock architecture aimed at improving chassis control and tyre contact. STX 46 Supersport shocks are developed from Ohlins racing experience and adapted for performance road and track use. The focus is on stable damping behaviour, predictable support and consistent feel as pace increases. This helps the bike stay composed when loads change quickly.

Shock design & features

This is a gas-pressurised rear mono shock with separated oil and gas to help maintain damping consistency under sustained use. The STX layout is designed to manage heat and reduce fade so the shock response stays more repeatable over a session. Internal valving is performance-oriented, aimed at traction and stability.

Tuning controls

External adjustment is provided for rebound damping and compression damping, allowing you to fine-tune rear-wheel control and chassis attitude for different tyres, surfaces and riding styles. Spring preload adjustment is also provided to set sag correctly and establish a stable baseline for further tuning.

Before you install

• Set rider sag and static sag first, then adjust damping from a known baseline.
• Check linkage and swingarm bearings while the shock is out to ensure smooth movement and accurate setup.
• If you’re changing tyres, ride height or geometry, recheck sag and damping after the first rides.

Serviceability/lifecycle

This Ohlins unit is designed to be serviced and rebuilt as part of normal ownership. Periodic oil and seal replacement helps keep damping accurate and protects internal components, especially if the bike sees track time or wet/dirty conditions.
