The TracTive X-TREME rear shock for the KTM 890 ADVENTURE (S) is a closed, pressurised monotube design with a remote reservoir for consistent damping under demanding use. It features a lowered ride height compared with standard fitment, aimed at improving stability and traction. The shock uses externally adjustable damping to tailor feel and control for load, terrain and pace.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised monotube construction to reduce cavitation and help keep damping consistent as conditions change.
  • Remote reservoir design to separate oil and gas for more stable damping behaviour during sustained use.
  • Lowered ride height configuration for riders prioritising stability and traction.

Tuning Controls

  • Externally adjustable rebound damping.
  • Externally adjustable compression damping.
  • Externally adjustable low-speed compression damping.

Who is this for?

  • KTM 890 ADVENTURE (S) riders wanting a lowered rear ride height while retaining broad damping adjustability.
  • Riders who carry luggage or vary load and want to fine-tune chassis control without internal revalving.
  • Adventure riders looking for a more controlled rear end across mixed road and off-road conditions.

Before You Install

  • Confirm your exact KTM 890 ADVENTURE (S) model and year compatibility before ordering.
  • After installation, set sag and then fine-tune damping adjustments to suit tyres, load and riding conditions.
  • If the motorcycle has electronic suspension elsewhere, check for any dash warnings or required steps when fitting a non-electronic rear shock.

Serviceability/Lifecycle

  • Designed to be serviceable as part of normal suspension maintenance.
  • Periodic inspection and servicing helps maintain damping consistency and seal life, especially with frequent off-road use.

Need Help Choosing?

  • If you’re unsure about lowered height suitability for your riding, provide your typical load (solo/two-up/luggage) and terrain so the setup can be matched appropriately.
  • If you want a simpler adjustment layout, consider whether you will regularly use separate compression and low-speed compression controls.
