The Ohlins STX 46 Street rear shock for the Honda CB 600F Hornet is designed to improve damping control and chassis stability for street riding. Built around Ohlins’ proven monotube architecture, it is intended to deliver consistent feel through a wide range of road conditions. This unit is supplied as a direct-fit rear mono shock for the Hornet.

Ohlins street-focused suspension is developed from competition experience, then tuned for real-world use. The aim is predictable support, controlled body movement and improved tyre contact without making the bike feel harsh or nervous.

Shock design & features

This rear unit uses an oil/gas separated design to help maintain damping consistency as temperatures and workloads change. The STX 46 Street platform is engineered for stable damping behaviour and good sensitivity to small road inputs, while still offering support when the pace increases.

Tuning controls

This shock includes external rebound damping adjustment to tailor how quickly the shock extends after compression. Spring preload adjustment is also provided to set ride height and sag for the rider, load and intended use.

Base setup (factory preset)

Ohlins supply these shocks with a baseline setup intended to work well on a standard motorcycle with typical street loads. Fine-tuning rebound and preload is the normal next step once sag is set and tyre choice and riding style are considered.

Before you install

Check clearances, linkage condition and mounting hardware before fitting, and ensure bearings and pivots move freely. After installation, set sag and verify there is no interference through full suspension travel, then re-check fasteners after the first rides.

Serviceability/lifecycle

This is a serviceable shock designed to be maintained over time. Periodic servicing helps keep damping performance consistent and is recommended especially if the bike is used in wet conditions, on poor roads, or with regular high-load riding.
