Shock design & features

This is a rear mono shock in Ohlins STX 46 Street format. The design separates the oil and gas to reduce aeration and help keep damping behaviour consistent over longer rides.

Tuning controls

  • Rebound damping adjustment to control how quickly the shock extends after compression.
  • Compression damping adjustment to manage support under acceleration, braking and sharp bumps.
  • Spring preload adjustment to set ride height and sag for rider weight and load.

Base setup (factory preset)

The shock is supplied with a fitted spring and an Ohlins baseline setting intended to be a safe starting point for typical street use. Fine-tuning should be done methodically, changing one adjustment at a time and recording your settings.

Before you install

  • Confirm compatibility with your Yamaha MT-01 and check for clearance around the shock and any reservoir components.
  • Set rider sag via preload before chasing damping changes.
  • After installation, recheck fasteners and linkage condition, as worn bearings can mask suspension tuning changes.
