The TracTive X-PERIENCE + HPA rear shock for the BMW R nineT Urban G/S 40 Years GS (2021–2024) is a closed, pressurised shock absorber built around a sealed cartridge design. This architecture helps maintain consistent damping by keeping the damping oil under pressure and separated from gas. It is configured with external adjusters to tune damping and spring preload to suit load and riding conditions.

Design & features

  • Closed, pressurised shock absorber with a sealed cartridge architecture to support stable, consistent damping behaviour.
  • Oil and gas are separated (not an emulsion design).
  • Supplied with a spring.
  • Includes a hydraulic preload adjuster (HPA) for convenient preload changes without tools.

Tuning Controls

  • Rebound damping adjustment.
  • Compression damping adjustment.
  • Additional damping adjustment (triple-adjustable configuration).
  • Hydraulic spring preload adjustment (HPA).

Base Setup (factory preset)

This shock is delivered with a factory baseline setup intended to be a starting point for real-world use. Fine tuning is done using the external damping adjusters and the hydraulic preload adjuster to match rider preference, load, and typical road conditions.

Who is this for?

  • BMW R nineT Urban G/S 40 Years GS owners (2021–2024) who want broad adjustability for varying riding styles and loads.
  • Riders who regularly change between solo and loaded riding and want quick preload changes via HPA.
  • Those who value a closed, pressurised, oil/gas-separated shock design for consistency over long rides.

Before You Install

  • Confirm model and year fitment: BMW R nineT Urban G/S 40 Years GS (2021–2024) rear.
  • Plan access for the hydraulic preload adjuster so it can be reached easily after installation.
  • After installation, set preload for your typical load first, then fine-tune damping adjustments.

Serviceability/Lifecycle

As a closed, pressurised shock with separated oil and gas, this unit is designed to be maintained through periodic servicing to keep damping performance consistent over time. Service intervals and procedures should be based on usage and operating conditions.
