The Ohlins YA769 is an STX 46 rear shock for Yamaha Exciter applications, built around Ohlins’ proven monotube architecture. It is a gas-pressurised design intended to keep damping consistent when the shock is working hard. The focus is predictable control, stability and traction for everyday riding through to more demanding use.

STX-series scooter shocks apply Ohlins race-derived damping principles in a compact rear unit. The intent is controlled wheel movement, better chassis composure and clearer feedback when the surface or load changes.

Who this shock is for

Suited to riders who want more consistent rear-end control than a basic OE shock, particularly when riding briskly, carrying load, or dealing with mixed road quality. It’s a practical choice when you want tuning capability without moving to a remote-reservoir layout.

Shock design & features

This is an oil/gas separated monotube shock (gas-pressurised) to help reduce cavitation and damping fade. The STX 46 layout is designed to maintain stable damping behaviour over repeated bumps and longer rides.

Tuning controls

The YA769 provides rebound damping adjustment, plus a compression damping adjuster. These allow you to balance comfort, grip and chassis support to suit your tyre choice, payload and riding conditions.

Before you install

Confirm clearances and any model-specific fitment notes for your Exciter variant, and set sag before making damping changes. If your ride height or handling balance changes noticeably after installation, revisit preload and then fine-tune rebound and compression in small steps.
